  • Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China

Once again, this speaks to the degree of contempt and assumption of idiocy that Trump, Inc has for his lobotomized followers. I have no doubt that everyone connected with this phone surely knew that it would take about a nanosecond to reveal that it is not "made in America." And they don't care. They know that facts just bounce off the MAGA force field that keeps truth and reality from ever penetrating. Just like Trump continues to peddle his $TRUMP meme coin, undeterred by facts showing that 50-odd people made a fortune, while hundreds of thousands have lost money. I'm sure some tech sleazebag just put projections in front of Trump showing how much he'd make just by licensing his name to this latest scam--not just on the hardware, I'm sure he gets his cut of the monthly phone bills, too--and he signed immediately, confident the MAGA brain dead would sign up, too.

Fools and their money. TACO just keeps turning his lemmings upside down and shaking whatever change might remain out of their pockets. And yeah, totally normal for a U.S. president's private company to jump into the mobile phone business when he's in the midst of punishing America's leading mobile phone maker with tariffs. ZERO chance this phone is "made in America." It is, perhaps "assembled" in America of what will likely be close to 100% parts NOT made in America. What's absolutely guaranteed is that this phone will suck.

  • Craig Federighi says macOS would ruin what makes the iPad special

However, this is not a reason to prohibit running Mac OSX on an iPad.   Users should have a choice as to which OS they run.

I have nothing against the iPad OS.   It's a great solution for many (but not all) users.   Why not allow users to choose which OS they are running?

The iPad OS can be the default, but please allow power users to install OSX.  iPad apps already work inside of Mac OSX, so no functionality is lost.

An iPad with an M4 processor, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD, Thunderbolt 3, and a Magic Keyboard Folio (Keyboard and trackpad) would make a damn fine portable Mac.
Please, just buy a MacBook if you want a “damn fine portable Mac”, it’s already here. I for one do not want my iPad running macOS - I’ll leave that to my Mac thanks.
Comments like this convince me that reading comprehension has become a lost skill in America. Pretty aggressive response considering he didn't say that you--or any iPad user--HAD to have their iPad running MacOS. What he said was: "The iPad OS can be the default, but please allow power users to install OSX." See? Not only do you not have to run MacOS on your iPad, you don't even have to install it! He would simply like that option for people who do want to install it. And your problem with this request, which would not affect you in the least, is WHAT exactly? I have suggested this as a possibility myself, since Apple Silicon can boot into either OS, and this kind of separate solution doesn't involve ANY compromise in either OS--no need to try and kludge a touchscreen into MacOS or complicate iPadOS--both OSes work exactly as they do now, which is why he specifies the need for a Magic Keyboard folio, because you'll need a keyboard and trackpad for MacOS. Of course, we all know why this will never happen: Apple wants to continue to sell us two devices, not one. It's also why they've resisted ease-of-use functionality in iPadOS (the files system, multitasking, etc) that would make it more of an easy laptop replacement for more people. It's really as simple as that.

  • iPadOS 26 at WWDC 25: Bold design rumors, Multitasking changes, more

Is it just me (always possible!) or does this roundup make this year's WWDC seem more like "housekeeping" as opposed to some real reno work or getting new furniture? Not that any of the above is bad, not at all, lots of little welcome changes, but it all feels like nibbling at the edges. I mean, when the "big" headline (thus far) is that Apple will use the design language it developed for VisionOS and apply it more broadly across devices, it seems like excitement is in very short supply.

  • EU repair laws start June 20 - How compliant is Apple?

I really wish Apple would release data on how many people are actually using its self-repair options. Would love to know what tiny fraction of 1% all of this "right to repair" legislation is designed to serve, although I'm sure the Radio Shack and Heathkit diaspora are thrilled with it. Gosh, maybe we should force Apple to provide the parts, tools and instructions so I can build my own iPhone? No surprise that the EU, which leads the world in tech regulation, badly lags the U.S. and Asia when it comes to tech manufacturing and innovation.
