I have a number of AppleTVs, but this is my biggest properly with it right now. It's positioned in no-man's-land relative to the rest of the market. It's a better qualify device than most streaming sticks so it can also provide some casual gaming. Then, I wish Apple would really take gaming seriously and try to get good Nintendo-quality content for a higher-end gaming device. A $349 AppleTV with premium Apple Arcade games would be amazing with my Apple One subscription.

One could make a similar argument against any company that provides a platform/location for people to buy products from lots of different vendors. If you want to sell through Walmart, Target, Apple, or Google, you need to follow the terms that they set.ITGUYINSD said:

To be fair, Epic should charge $1.99 for the app, and Apple gets 30% of that. Then, all the IAP's are through Epic payment systems since Apple has nothing to do with that.

AR vs. VR/MR are just two completely different use cases IMO. All the uses of AVP are either specific to content creation (similar to a Mac or latest iPads) or fully-immersive content consumption (closer to Apple TV than iPhone).StrangeDays said:

A sunglasses form factor will need to be solely AR and be a device for light content consumption - more like iPhone compared to a Mac. You just can't get the same amount of processing power into the glasses factor, including proper battery life, to package the current functionality of AVP into it. A future AR glasses project will utilize much of the technology of visionOS (pinning content to real world areas with the ability to interact with it) but you can't get the same immersive content experience as you can with AVP completely blocking out external light.
I think there are reasons to always have both products around.

Five boring apps that Apple shouldn't forget about for the Apple Vision Pro
I've heard a lot of talk about how successful Supernatural has been on the Quest for fitness, but that's one area I don't get. Maybe it's the type of exercise that I do, but having a headset strapped to my face doesn't sound ideal.
For music, having concerts recorded in Apple's new proprietary 3D camera technology (mentioned by John Gruber https://daringfireball.net/2023/06/first_impressions_of_vision_pro_and_visionos) would be incredible.

Apple plans more AI in iOS, improved Siri in $1B technology push
I don't think Apple got caught off guard by AI/ML in general. They've been shipping machine learning models in their software for years now (in somewhat limited areas), and have been developing Silicon specific for it for a number of years. That will give them a big advantage for on-device processing should they choose to go that route.Where I think they did get caught was the popularity of LLM and generative models and how useful and helpful those have been. They definitely under-invested in Siri, which most people would associate as the 'face' of AI within Apple, even if there is a lot more to it than just what Siri does.
Since Apple won't ship something that they don't believe fully integrates with all their other software and services as it should, I don't see them shipping anything super soon related to Siri unless they've been pulling in other software teams to help.
And when they do, they won't take the the approach of throwing everything up on a wall to see what sticks. They'll be very calculated to ensure it has a positive benefit for the end user. This is my biggest issue currently. I'm in software, and feel like I follow AI developments pretty closely. I still have yet to see something put together in a way that is actually going to transform the way I work. The closest being Github CoPilot or other coding services.

The new Qi2 wireless standard will launch before the holidays
This would be amazing if car companies would commit to this. Even better if they could make the process of changing the Qi mount in the car somewhat easy when a new version is released, which happens about every 2-3 years. Siri is superpowered with Apple Intelligence
Couldn't they both rely on the Apple Private Cloud by default to process requests since they can't do any on-device processing?
