On Tuesday, Apple released version 1.2 of its Apple Invites app -- the first feature update since the app launched in February. The latest version introduces a new Link tile, part of a new Tile section, which allows hosts to share URLs with event guests directly within the invitation.

According to the Apple Invites page on the App Store, the new feature is ideal for sharing links to gift registries, potluck sign-up sheets, trip itineraries, and more. It joins existing features like a Shared Album and a collaborative Apple Music playlist, both of which let attendees contribute content tied to the event.

Apple Invites is free to download, but it requires the event organizer to have an iCloud+ subscription. iCloud+ plans start at $0.99 per month and are included with all tiers of Apple One.

I like this app, and have been trying to use it with friends, but they get annoyed about having to sign into an Apple ID just to respond, and in a lot of cases, don't bother. Apple should lift that restriction.
